What are some security guard duties that one can expect entering the field of security?

Do I need to have a security school near me to enroll for Security Classes?
Guardian Group Services has been approved by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services to teach all of our security guard classes online, so you don't need to have a security school near you, as long as you have a computer with camera, and internet connection. We offer the 8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training class, the 16-hour On-The -Job Training, and the 8 Hour Annual In-Service Training for security guards, all online via ZOOM.
Are there job opportunities for female security guards?
Absolutely, security guards in New York State are more in demand than ever before. Locations include corporate and residential buildings, retail locations, public housing, airports, event spaces, city and federal buildings and many others. Today, women make up more of the of the security guard workforce than ever before.
How do I get my OSHA Card?
If you are currently working in or want to pursue a career in the construction industry in New York City, you are required by your employer to have completed a minimum of 40 Hours of safety training. The easiest way to get the combined 40 hours of training is to get the OSHA 30 certification and the OSHA 10-Hour (SST) Site Safety Training Course. Both online training courses are currently being offered at Guardian Group Services and authorized by OSHA.
What is SST?
SST is an acronym for site safety training. Local Law 196 went into effect in 2017, which requires all workers in NYC to have their SST card.
Do OSHA Cards Expire?
After the training sessions, students receive a course completion card to acknowledge that they have successfully completed the class. OSHA cards do not expire. However, per the New York City Department of Buildings, the card must have been issued within the past 5 years in order to work on any site.
How can I get an OSHA Card Replacement?
You can request a replacement OSHA card as long as you have completed your courses no more than five (5) years prior to your replacement card application. If it has been longer than that, then you will not be eligible for a replacement card.
Is the OSHA 30 Hour Construction Training the right certification for me?
If you work in construction as a field supervisor, safety
director, foreman and construction worker, the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration requires the completion of a 30 Hour OSHA safety training. The online 30-hour course covers a wide range of topics including how to identify and eliminate hazards,
creating a safe job site for all workers. This and all OSHA training courses
are taught by authorized trainers.
