Online 16 Hour On The Job Training

In order to become a New York State security guard, you must first undergo the required security guard training. State, you must first complete the required training. As required by NYS, the 16 hour security guard training course must be completed within 90 days of employment as a Security Guard.  

This course provides the student with all of the necessary information about the duties and responsibilities of a Security Guard. Guardian Group services has been approved by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services to teach this course and all security courses online. 

Classes are scheduled on Wednesdays followed by a second class on the next day, Thursday. This course provides the student with detailed information on the following topics: 

• The role of the security guard 
• Legal powers and limitations 
• Emergency situations 
• Communications and public relations 
• Access control 
• Ethics and Conduct 
• Incident command system 
• Terrorism 

In order to successfully complete the course and to receive the training required certification, the student must satisfactorily pass the examination. The 16 Hour on the job training course for security guards consists of two days of training for $110 total. Once the booking is completed, a Zoom link will be provided in order to take the class. 

It is a requirement that, before taking this course, you complete the 8 Hour Pre Assignment Training Course. You can book this course separately, or the 8 and 16 Hour Security courses in the training program in a package deal here. After completing the 16 Hour On-The-Job Training Course, security guards are required to complete the 8 Hour Annual In Service Training. The 8-Hour Annual course must be completed annually in order to keep the security license in good standing.
